About TelecomWatch, Continued from Front Page

Our overall TelecomWatch goal is to reflect advances in the planning, design, development of Fayetteville’s telecommunications infrastructure. As our community builds its capacity to keep pace with others in the region, we will highlight our City’s struggle to help meet the local telecommunications needs and interests of the community, Currently, the focus is on the lenthy Cox Cable franchise negotiations and the needs to identify other broadband service providers. .

Our Wiki site is carried on the well known local listserve at http://nw-ar.com, with a sister Wiki site located at http://nw-ar.com/pmwiki/. You may want to take a quick look at our IndexWikiWordsAll page to get a feel of the current contents.

We soon will carry more detailed monthly reports and notices from Telecommunications Board and from other services of the local PEG Center (public, educational, and government channels) web site to supplement the Telecommunications Board site. The TaskForceCommentary and RegionalBroadband plans also will be featured.

''Importantly, we will carry ALL items from the TelecomBoardMeetingPacket? that are not now available on Telecommunications Board web site, or listserv. We will also dig into key topics from the City's web sites for the Telecom Board and our local PEG Center channels . (The City is currently revamping is web site, and we are not clear on their policy regarding the full packet of the Board’s activities, such as Cox subscriber complaints and other public input.'

TelecoWatch? could eventually have the ability to web cast community activities over the Internet, providing additional reach and on-demand viewing of some of the PEG access channels offerings, such as the City Council meetings.

As is obvious from the many vacant links, we're still very much "under construction as we try to organize nearly 15 years of background data. So we ask your patience as we sort out the bigger chunks of data. We'll be filling in the missing links over the next few days as we are able to download or scan in the information, much of which is scattered over several City data bases and staff filing cabinets.

In the meantime, please add your voice and participate online. Just click onto AddYourCommentary anytime. As a courtesy to other readers, we ask only that you sign your addition and/or provide your e-mail address. Contact the WatchMaster at: TelecomWatch@earthlink.net
