TelcomBoardMeetingPacketsWe will continue to post all files that have been obtained from the original packets, including complaints. (See CitizensComplaints for TelecomWatch suggestions on TelecomBoard policy for handling Citizen's complaints.) CityWebsitePolicies for the Telecom Board website and list serve have been developed by both the City and the Telecom Board, but no definitive policy is available as of March 1, 2004. (However, the Telecom Board web site policy subcommittee met on Feb.27 to begin an analysis of the City's "digital media policies", which will include a Government Channel Round Table in March, as well as development of a web page devoted to these issues.) We understand that the Telecom Board has indicated a preference to omit the names of those citizens who file complaints, while retaining the content. (If you have complaints, problems, or suggestions for the Telecom Board, please add them to the CitizensComplaint? link on TelecomWatch. We'll find a way to make them available to the Telecom Board. We're hoping the Telecom Board will come up with their own way to handle citizens' input via their web site and listserv) Thus we will attempt to follow that policy when details are available. However, at present, all file contents of the monthly packets will be posted, with no editing other than names, addresses, phone or other identification of the person who files the complaint. The Cable Administrator's office is now submitting monthly complaints to the Telecom Board, which carry no names or addresses, although there appears to be no formal policy on how citizen complaints are to be handled each month. (We hope that the new policies will also clarify the file indexing and descriptor system to be used by the City and the Telecom Board. Such a system would be likely to extremely useful for any Regional Task Force exchanges, also.) TelecomWatch will continue to track the website policy at CityWebsitePolicies, and we also will attempt to cover news related to the City's Freedom of Information Act policies (FOIAUpdate?). At present, only the monthly Board Minutes and Agendas may be found on the TelecomBoard web site and those are badly dated. Older minutes (2002 -2003 are collected in a single zip file: Attach:OldTCBZipFiles2002-2003.zip |
